SSWAHS Youth Health Service Fairfield (FLYHT) opened a new youth health clinic for refugee and newly arrived young people on 5th November 2009. The service is run from Carramar and caters for young people aged 12 to 24 years. The clinic aims to provide an access point to health services for marginalised, at risk young people who are refugees and new arrivals to this country.

The clinic provides comprehensive medical and nursing assessment, psychosocial assessment, priority access to oral health services, case management, consultation for community and local workers, multidisciplinary assessments/intervention/referrals, counselling, health education and group work. The clinic will also provide hearing and vision testing, immunisation, pregnancy testing, advice on contraception and sexual health screening and education for young people.

The clinic will be open from 9.30am to 12.30 pm on the first and third Thursday of each month. A doctor and a nurse will be available during these hours.

In addition, nursing and counselling assessments will be available on other days. Young people can make an appointment by ringing the service directly on ph: 02-8717 1717.

All services are free and confidential. Young people do not need a Medicare card to access any of our services.

Referrals can be made by ringing the Youth Health Refugee Clinic central intake line on, ph: 02-8778 0770. The clinic accepts self-referral from young people and referral from parents and service providers. An interpreter will be booked where needed.
